When you have some time to yourself, try out some of these ways to wind down and relax. 1. Guided Meditation There are so many cool apps that you can download to help guide you through meditation. Headspace is a great app I use whenever I have some free time in my day to help me wind down and relax. It is very simple to use and helps keep you motivated and mindful. 2. Take some deep breaths Sometimes when we are so stressed out we never have time to breathe. Sit down and take some heavy deep breaths. Taking some deep breaths will slow down your heartbeat, so your muscles can relax. Also, allowing oxygen in your brain while taking deep breaths will stimulate a state of calmness. 3. Listen to music Plug in some earbuds and listen to your favorite tunes. Sing and dance like nobody is watching. You need some time to let go after this hectic week. 4. Move your body Take a walk around campus. You have nowhere to go, so just soak in the fresh air and take in your surroundings. Allow your body to feel the sun and stock up on some Vitamin D! 5. Color Adult coloring books are becoming so popular. It is a great way to relieve stress and a fun activity to do. This is another great substitution for meditation that will you help you stay in the present and achieve mindfulness. |
